FINANCIAL-I ANNOUNCES WINNERS AND COMPANIES TO WATCH
IN ITS SECOND ANNUAL LEADERS IN INNOVATION AWARDS

London, November 20th, 2007 - Financial-i magazine has announced winners across more than 50 categories in its second annual Leaders in Innovation Awards.

The awards identify innovation leaders across wholesale transaction banking in
categories encompassing:

  • Securities services
  • Treasury & FX
  • Network services
  • Risk management
  • Data management

Companies were short listed based on research conducted by our own team of
journalists, including input from analyst firms. For the first time this year short- listed
companies were presented to an advisory panel comprising industry analysts and
thought leaders. Their feedback was then used to help us decide winners and
companies to watch in each category.
Members of the advisory panel included:

  • Steve Craggs, president of Saint Consulting, a director of Illuminatus
and vice-chairman of the Integration Consortium
  • Cubillas Ding, senior analyst, securities and investments practice,
    Celent
  • Susan Feinberg, research director, wholesale banking, TowerGroup
  • Richard Hogsflesh, managing director, R&M Surveys
  • Philip Howard, research director, Bloor
  • Neil Katkov, group manager, Asia research, Celent
  • Frédéric Ponzo, managing director, NET2S
  • Andy Sanderson, senior manager, capital markets, BearingPoint

To be published in the Q4 2007 edition of Financial-i, the second annual Leaders
in Innovation awards provide recognition for banks and software and hardware
vendors shaping the delivery of business solutions in wholesale transaction banking.
With an increasing emphasis on ROI and competing demands on wholesale financial
institutions’, corporate treasurers’ and investment managers’ IT budgets, companies
are seeking business solutions that are cost effective, help solve common business
problems (STP, integration across departmental silos, regulatory compliance,
speedier transaction processing), are less time consuming and costly to implement,
enhance overall efficiency and facilitate bank to bank and bank to customer
communications.

In selecting our winners we focused on these factors, which we put under the
general umbrella of innovation. Essentially what we were looking for is companies
that have demonstrated over the last 12 months their ability to innovate, whether it
is in terms of business strategy or the development of wholesale transaction banking
solutions, and for that innovation to have significantly impacted customers in terms
of their ability to deploy business solutions cost effectively, more readily interact and
integrate them with other applications, and the ability to use these solutions to solve
business specific issues or concerns.
“Leaders in Innovation is not about rewarding the banks and vendors with the
largest market share or the most revenues. Although some companies may be
pioneers in their space, our awards are about recognising those companies that
demonstrate an ongoing commitment to innovation. Twelve months is a long time in
the innovation stakes, so even though companies may have been judged innovation
leaders last year, we have focused on what they and their competitors have done in
the last 12 months to improve and build on these innovations.”
In an effort to highlight competing firms that have also made significant strides, but
not at the same level as the innovation leaders, where applicable we have also
identified Companies to Watch. The winners we have selected are by no means
an exhaustive list of all companies that are innovating in the wholesale financial
services space. However, we have tried to incorporate those areas that we cover
regularly in the magazine and that form the backbone of wholesale transaction
banking.
